| Absentee-parenting: is an oxymoron and a contradiction. An adult must be present, and involved to be considered a parent. Anyone can produce children, but not everyone can be a good parent. As a society we license/certify individuals to provide specialty functions (e.g., doctor, lawyer, therapist, realtor, etc.), maybe it's time we license parents. Should we hold parents accountable when we can prove that poor parenting, i.e. abuse, neglect, etc., has resulted in the creation of a sociopath? |
